Recipes for plant-based and gluten-free ingredients increase our holiday joy
15 November 2022 – Sometimes we slip back into eating animals on holidays because our plant-based alternatives don’t seem very festive. So this month we’ve included holiday-flavored ingredients and a few basics for increasing our holiday meal-planning budget.

First, we’ll cover the basics – gluten-free flour blend, basic almond milk and homemade pumpkin pie spice: www.minimalistbaker.com/diy-gluten-free-flour-blend/#wprm-recipe-container-35779 , www.happycow.net/blog/5-fun-almond-milk-recipes-to-try-at-home/ and www.lovingitvegan.com/pumpkin-pie-spice-recipe/ .

Next, we’ll tackle two kinds of vegan butter – coconut or hidden: www.lovingitvegan.com/how-to-make-coconut-butter/ and www.thehiddenveggies.com/butter/#recipe . We’ll follow that with cheeses – sauce and parmesan: www.elavegan.com/easy-vegan-cheese-sauce-recipe/#recipe and www.biancazapatka.com/en/vegan-parmesan-cheese/#recipe .

We’ll close out the condiments with sour cream and mayonnaise: www.godairyfree.org/recipes/dairy-free-tofu-sour-cream and www.jessicainthekitchen.com/vegan-mayonnaise/ .

Then we’ll bring in dessert ingredients– yogurt, condensed milk, evaporated milk, whipped cream and two kinds of icecream: www.fullofplants.com/easy-chocolate-coconut-yogurt/#recipe , www.cleangreensimple.com/article/condensed-milk-substitute/ , www.cleangreensimple.com/article/vegan-substitute-forwww.happycow.net/blog/5-fun-almond-milk-recipes-to-try-at-home/-evaporated-milk/ , www.schoolnightvegan.com/home/vegan-whipped-cream/ and www.chocolatecoveredkatie.com/coconut-ice-cream-recipe/ OR www.chocolatecoveredkatie.com/oatmilk-ice-cream-recipe/ .
More simple substitutes were posted in September 2018’s www.southchicagolandvegetarians.com/what-can-i-substitute-for-animal-flesh-or-animal-products-in-recipes/ . Other holiday recipes are available on this blog under Articles – Celebrations or Resources-Recipes.
