Vegetarians/vegans celebrate in spring

Apr 2019 — Spring ushers in many celebrations. Bahais and Zoroastrians celebrated the first day, March 20 or 21, as their New Year; in Iran that Naw Ruz festival lasts 13 days, extending into April. Taoists celebrated their ancestors April 5 on Qingming or Tomb Sweeping Day. On April 3 some Muslims observed Isra and Miraj, Muhammad’s visits to Jerusalem and heaven; on April 19 after a day of festivities, others observe Barat Night, when God arrives to forgive those with clean hearts. Hindus celebrate Rama Navani, their god Rama’s birthday April 13. Theravadin Buddhists celebrate their New Year April 19-21, Jews celebrate Passover April 20-27, and Christians celebrate Easter April 21. All these special days involve food.
